It’s Official! The Spice Girls (Minus Victoria Beckham) Confirm A Reunion Tour
UPDATE: Victoria Beckham issued a statement wishing the other girls luck as they prepare for their tour. “I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year. I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time!” Check out her full message below.
The Spice Girls came through to give us what we really, really want. And it is more than just a zig-a-zig-ah. Today (November 5) Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C, respectively Ginger, Baby, Scary and Sporty Spice, confirmed that they were reuniting for a tour in 2019. Breaking the good news via a faux news report, the foursome beamed in from various locations around the globe. After exchanging some cute banter about their outfits and poking fun at rumors of a fall-out, they came together in sweet harmony to sing the introduction to “Spice Up Your Life.” As the screen faded out, they revealed the dates of six shows taking place in the UK.
Things kicks off next summer with a performance in Manchester on June 1. Two weeks later, they play a final show in London’s iconic Wembley Stadium. Tickets go on sale this Saturday (November 10) and are sure to sell out rapidly. Additionally, the “Wannabe” superstars revealed that Jess Gylnne signed on as their supporting act. Sadly, Victoria Beckham, Posh Spice, does not seem to be involved with the latest revival. The fashionable diva has allegedly been resistant to the possibility of touring in the past. However, I’m holding out hope that the other girls are able to convince Beckham to hop onstage for a quick appearance at one of the shows.
The last time all five members of the original lineup performed together was at the closing ceremony for the 2012 Olympic Games. Currently, there is no confirmation regarding whether the tour will be supported by new music. But it would definitely be interesting to see what a song by the Spice Girls sounds like in 2019. No matter what, this is definitely news worth celebrating! Check out the cute announcement video and tour dates below!
