Adam Lambert Teams Up With Queen For ‘The Rhapsody Tour’
As if we weren’t already counting down the days until summer, Adam Lambert and Queen just made the prospect even more exciting. Today (November 3), the hitmakers announced plans to travel North America on The Rhapsody Tour in 2019. Kicking off next July with a set in Vancouver, the 23-date show has them making stops across the continent. They’ll touch down in major cities including Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City before playing a final set in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 23. A press release for the event promises a “brand new larger-than-life production.” Adam had nothing but positive things to say about the opportunity. “We have been designing a brand new visual spectacle that will reframe these iconic songs and we are excited to unveil it!”
Meanwhile, original guitarist Brian May hyped up the show as even more “ambitious” than their previous outings. He capped off his statement by warning fans to prepare themselves. “Watch out, America!” Adam and Queen performed together on American Idol in 2009, and they did their first full show together in 2012. The rockers are fresh off a 10-show residency in Las Vegas, which was sold out. The news comes following the overwhelming success of Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody. Since debuting earlier this month, it is on track to become one of the top-grossing music biopics of all time. This is clearly more evidence that fans are still clamoring for more from the legendary group.
Tickets for The Rhapsody Tour will be available for pre-order via LiveNation.com December 7 with an exclusive pre-sale for fans December 6. Hopefully the new tour won’t put a damper on Adam’s plans for new music. The “Another Lonely Night” crooner provided a brief update about his progress in an interview with Schon! magazine. “There’s a lot of reference to Glam-Rock and Classic Rock of the ‘70s and the early ‘80s,” he explained. If we’re lucky, we may get a glimpse of some of the new music while he is on tour. While we wait for confirmation check out the dates below!
