J-Pop Queen Hikaru Utada has once again linked up with the Kingdom Hearts creators to record new music for one of their games. The hitmaker worked on the theme song for the first two iterations, and the trend continues with Kingdom Hearts III. This time around, she hit the studio with celebrated producers Skrillex and Poo Bear for a track called “Face My Fears.” Over the weekend, we got our first taste of the song in the game’s trailer. Opening with gentle keys and her lovely voice, it rapidly evolves with the introduction of an electro-kissed production. It sounds like a serious bop. In the hours since the trailer appeared online, it amassed more than 1.7 million views and is currently the number 2 trending video on YouTube.

Furthermore, “Face My Fears” is one of two new songs coming from the project. Utada also contributed a bop called “Don’t Think Twice” to the mix. The latter arrived in full today (December 10). While “Face My Fears” features a candy-coated production, this is a piano-led midtempo. “I want you for a lifetime. So if you’re gonna think twice, baby, I don’t wanna know, baby,” she coos. Fans are in for a treat in the new year. Utada will commemorate the release with a four-song EP called Face My Fears. The collection includes Japanese and English recordings of both “Face My Fears” and “Don’t Think Twice” and will be available January 18. In the meantime, get a first taste of the former in the official trailer and listen to the latter below.
