Sigrid's 'Raw' Approach
Norway's next great pop export tells us about her authentic approach to pop.

After releasing two excellent EPs jam-packed with streaming hits, Sigrid is finally ready to unleash her debut album. The Norwegian pop star’s long-awaited LP is called Sucker Punch and arrives on March 1, 2019. She also unveiled the striking cover art, but has kept the tracklist under wraps. It will be interesting to see if it’s something of a best-of compilation featuring “Don’t Kill My Vibe,” “Strangers” and “High Five.” On the other hand, it might include all new material aside from the title track. Either way, I’m happy!

“I figured out early on that it’s gonna be difficult for me to try and be anything other than who I am,” Sigrid says of the project. “I always said if I’m gonna do this it’s easiest to be myself and look like myself, where I can recognize myself.” And that’s what is so appealing about the 22-year-old. She isn’t trying to impress anyone by jumping on the latest trend or working with the hottest producer. Her music feels authentic, which is a rare quality in the pop world of 2018. Check out the video for the title track below.
