Bebe Rexha has a lot to celebrate in 2018. The 29-year-old dropped her debut album, Expectations, to rave reviews. Meanwhile, her Florida Georgia Line-assisted “Meant To Be” was one of the biggest singles of the year. To top it all off, the hitmaker nabbed two Grammy nominations including one for Best New Artist. She reflects on her career trajectory in a new feature for EUPHORIA. magazine. The “Say My Name” diva covers the publication’s winter edition and posed for a shoot with Jack Alexander. Looking suitably chic and edgy, Bebe is every inch a supermodel. And each photo is better than the next.

In the accompanying interview Bebe will discuss her transition from songwriter to pop star, maintaining creative control and surprise hits. “I remember when I first moved to Los Angeles and everybody was like ‘you should just go home this isn’t going to work for you,'” she recalled. Of course, her doubters have been proven wrong repeatedly since then. This is partly due to her ear for hits. But it could also be attributed to her fierce desire to retain control of her sound and image. “If I were ever put in a situation where I felt like I didn’t have creative control, then I just left no matter how big the person was,” she said.

“If I’m in a situation where there’s no collaboration effort and someone tells me what to do, I’m out,” Bebe reiterated. “I’ve been in really weird situations where I’ve looked like an idiot having walked away from a really big producer because I wouldn’t have them tell me who I need to be.” Of course, she also reflected on the breakout success of “Meant To Be.” The crossover anthem dominated country and pop radio and turned the rising star into a household name. However, she admitted to being surprised by how big it became. “I didn’t see ‘Meant To Be’ having the success it did. I knew it was a special song, but I didn’t think it would be that big.”
