You do not want to sleep on Sofi De La Torre. At 27-years-old, the rising star promises to deliver “Pop Done Right.” And, although it may seem like a lofty goal, she has yet to disappoint. Launching in 2014, the hitmaker pulls inspiration from her global upbringing. In the last few years, she has lived in Spain, London, Berlin and Los Angeles and speaks four languages. She also boasts a growing discography that is full of quality content including collaborations with the likes of Taylor Bennett, Blackbear and Rich The Kid. Today (December 13) she adds another potential hit to the collection with her heartfelt “VOICEBREAKS.” Produced by Jonas Karlsson, her latest features a gut-wrenching apology to a lover.

“People like us don’t belong with each other. Told you from day one I’m toxic, my lover,” Sofi warns over sparse beats. However, she admits their relationship flourished despite the warning. “Couple weeks later your body was on me. Couple years later you finally got it.” Moving into the chorus, she offers the only apology she is capable of. “This is a peace offering. This is a heartbreak. This is how I say I’m sorry; I can’t call you up cause you know that my voice breaks.” Sofi provided some additional insight into the song in a press release. “Loving is giving up your ego. This song is that.” The chill-inducing single is another testament to her exceptional aesthetic. It also has me very excited to see what is on the horizon from her in 2019.
