Citing family reasons, Britney Spears announced the cancellation of her forthcoming Vegas residency, Domination. The 37-year-old was scheduled to launch the show at Park MGM February 13 and had been giving fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into rehearsals for the last several weeks. Today (January 4), she took to social media to break the news. Sharing a childhood photo of her posing with her parents, the Pop Princess offered a heartfelt explanation for the last-minute cancellation. “I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination,” she wrote.

“I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart,” she added. “However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand.” Britney signed off with a message of appreciation for her fans.

“I appreciate your prayers and support for my family during this time. Thank you, and love you all… always.” In a statement shared on her website, the hitmaker’s team announced an “indefinite work hiatus” and confirmed the show was “on hold until further notice.” They also shared information for fans looking for a refund. See Britney’s announcement below and join us in wishing her and her family well at this time.
