Album Update: Iggy Azalea’s New Project Is Coming Together Nicely

Iggy Azalea is ready to make 2019 her year. The 28-year-old went through a handful of transitions in the second half of 2018. Chief amongst those was her departure from Island Records following the release of her warmly received Survive The Summer EP. While some acts would lament the end of a deal, the “Kream” hitmaker celebrated her newfound independence. Since then, she’s been doubling down on her forthcoming sophomore LP. Thankfully, she’s keeping us up-to-date with the project via Twitter. Last week she stepped in to comment on some rumors. After another account claimed she planned on dropping the lead single in February with the rest following in April or May, Iggy cleared the air.

“This is just what I’m aiming for: no confirmed timeline yet,” she helpfully tweeted. Since then she’s graciously dropped a couple more details. Today (January 8) is when things got particularly good. In a new spree of messages, she assured fans that the album was coming together nicely. “I’m really proud of my album,” she wrote. “It shits on 95% of everything I’ve ever made & its only half done.” In a second message she shouted out producer J. White (“Bodak Yellow”). “Me + J White = Dream Duo.” She also described the project in three emojis. Based on her choice (one of which being the devil), I’m taking this as confirmation that several seriously sexy bangers are on the horizon.

That’s not all. It also looks like Iggy may have teased what the LP will be called. In one tweet, the rapper tacked on the hashtag #InMyDefense. It’s unclear, but this could very well be a hint at a working title. We’ve also gotten several snippets of the music she and J. White have been working on in the studio. Back in December, a video of her playing a song allegedly called “Sally Walker” surfaced online. Then earlier this week, White uploaded another teaser on Instagram. Both promise that something big is on the horizon. Now it is just a waiting game to see when it all arrives.
