Summer Loving: Troye Sivan Hits The Beach In His “Lucky Strike” Video

Troye Sivan’s Bloom was a highlight of 2018. On it, the Aussie hitmaker delivered a fitting follow-up to his debut LP – Blue Neighbourhood. Overflowing with energy and very, very gay, it is yet another testament to his undeniable star power. The only thing missing from the era thus far is a chart-dominating single. The 23-year-old dropped no shortage of bops. Anyone with ears could attest to the fact that “Bloom” is a banger, and the Ariana Grande-assisted “Dance To This” is equally great. However, the only song to land on the Billboard Hot 100 was lead single “My My My!” Hopefully that changes today (January 10), as he turns his attention to streaming hit “Lucky Strike.” Written with an assist from producer Alex Hope, the loved-up anthem begs for the single treatment.

Built around an infectious refrain – “tell me all the ways to love you” – the heady midtempo is all about an idyllic relationship. And that romance comes to life in the newly released, summery video. Directed by Emma Westenberg, the project finds the “Youth” star falling for a dreamy bartender at the beach. After showcasing his excellent flirting skills while ordering a drink, Troye hands over his heart. And he and his beau enjoy a day by the shore. There is no shortage of gorgeous scenery, and the vaguely retro visual is another serious win. With any luck, he can line up a couple of promotional performances and land the sleeper hit the era truly deserves. In the meantime, rest assured that I’ll have the video on repeat.
