Album Review: Ariana's 'Sweetener'
Ariana Grande broadens her horizons on 'Sweetener'... to mixed results.

Ariana Grande refuses to take her foot off our necks. The pop star will kick off 2019 by dropping a new single called “7 Rings” on January 18. Of course, she has already spoken about the ode to friendship in her Billboard cover story. “It was a… challenging fall day in New York,” the Grammy nominee revealed. “Me and my friends went to Tiffany’s together, just because we needed some retail therapy. You know how when you’re waiting at Tiffany’s they give you lots of champagne?” Actually, I don’t. But that’s beside the point.

“They got us very tipsy, so we bought seven engagement rings, and when I got back to the studio I gave everybody a friendship ring… that’s where the song idea came from.” It will be interesting to see if “7 Rings” follows “Thank U, Next” to the top of the charts or serves more as mood-setting buzz track like “Imagine.” Needless to say, it’s going to be big and dominate the social media landscape for the net couple of weeks. See the pink-and-black, graffiti-themed cover art below.
