Los Angeles production duo Grey (Kyle Trewartha and Michael Trewartha) hit it big when they partnered with Zedd and Maren Morris on “The Middle” last year. The country-pop crossover delight rocketed into the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went all the way to the top spot on the Pop Songs chart. And they’re starting off 2019 with another certified banger. Yesterday (January 10), they linked up with LÉON to unveil “Want You Back.” Over an infectious production, the Swedish pop star admits to longing for her ex after calling it quits. “Diggin’ out your old letters. Sleepin’ in your old sweaters. Guess I should have known better. ‘Cause you’re gone, I want, I want, I want you,” she laments.

Michael offered some insight into how the track came together in a press release. “We were listening to LÉON a lot and thought she would fit perfectly. She ultimately did.” He also opened up about how the song aligns with their artistic goals. “Musically, we want to bring something weird and unique to pop. This song does that. It all felt meant to be.” Meanwhile, the “Falling” hitmaker had nothing but positive things to say about her involvement. “I’m so happy that this song is finally out in the world! Working with Kyle and Michael on this one has been so fun and special, and I’m really proud of being a part of it,” she gushed. Make sure to keep an eye peeled for the official video, which will apparently bring the lyrics to life.
