AURORA Talks 'Queendom' & New Music
We caught up with AURORA at Coachella and find out more about her new era.

After the pristine, alpine-pop of 2016’s excellent All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend, AURORA decided to switch things up. She revved up her sound on last year’s Infections Of A Different Kind — Step 1 EP, incorporating bigger hooks and denser, electronic production. And it looks like the Norwegian pop star’s evolution continues on Step 2. She unleashed “Animal” today (January 24) and it’s a ferocious, decidedly offbeat pop anthem that navigates the path between alt and pop with unusual ease.

“I spend a lot of time thinking about humans,” AURORA says of her new single. “And I wanted to make a song wrapped in a blanket of obliviousness whilst speaking the wonderful and horrible truth that I see in us. We are always thriving for something. If it’s love, money, sex, success, power or just a bigger piece of a delicious chocolate cake. It’s very interesting. It’s grotesque. It’s beautiful.” That point of view is brilliantly conveyed in the video, which finds our heroine escaping a literal cage. Watch her wreak havoc below.
