Ava Max Interview
We speak to the rising star about the breakout success of 'Sweet But Psycho.'

Ava Max has her sights set on America in 2019. The 25-year-old caught lightning in a bottle with “Sweet But Psycho” last year. A relatable anthem featuring production credits from Cirkut, it climbed to the top spot on the charts across Europe and reached the number 2 spot in Australia. With more than 278 million Spotify streams, it is now picking up traction on the Billboard Hot 100. This week it reached a new peak at number 36. Meanwhile, the hitmaker claimed the top spot on Billboard’s Emerging Artists Chart. And she’s likely to stay up there thanks to a pair of promotional performances. She made her debut on US TV stations Wednesday night with an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden.

And today (January 25), she stopped by The TODAY Show for a second performance of her breakout hit. Joined by a crew of dancers, the chicly dressed pop star belted out the bop and executed some cute choreography. Before breaking it down, she reflected on how it felt to top the Emerging Artists Chart, opened up about some of her biggest influences and talked about her signature haircut. Hopefully her latest appearances will give her yet another boost on the charts. In an exclusive interview last year, she mentioned plans to drop more music and (eventually) an album. And it would be great to see her kicking off the era with a global chart topper. In the meantime, watch Ava in action on The Late Late Show up top and The TODAY Show below!
