The 20 Best EPs Of 2018
From Mallrat to Sasha Sloan, we count down the 20 best EPs of 2018.

2018 was very good to Mallrat. The Aussie newcomer’s In The Sky EP won rave reviews and made her an instant hipster-blog darling, while “Groceries” landed at number 7 on Triple J’s prestigious Hottest 100. (The best song ever written about shopping also placed high on our countdown of 2018’s best singles). The 20-year-old would be forgiven for resting on her laurels, but she’s already back with a new single called “Nobody’s Home.” A dreamy collaboration with Sydney producer Basenji, the understated electro-pop anthem is a winning addition to an already impressive discography.

“This song started as a voice memo, recorded in a bathroom in Japan, about a year and a half ago,” Mallrat says of the collaboration. “My friend was sleeping in the next room so I turned on the shower and sung really quietly so that she wouldn’t hear me recording. About six months later I met up with Basenji in Sydney and the song started to take shape.” Grace Shaw (her real name) also unleashed the video today and it has the washed-out glow of a daydream.
