Avril Lavigne & Nicki Minaj Hit Back At “Dumb Blonde” Comments On Fiery New Single

Avril Lavigne links up with rap queen Nicki Minaj to raise hell on her new single “Dumb Blonde.” Things are getting serious for the 34-year-old as she gears up to drop Head Above Water Friday. Last year she kicked off the era with the epic title track, which she followed with the instantly catchy “Tell Me It’s Over.” The former performed respectably on the charts. It peaked at number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100 and cracked the Top 40 in Canada. However, her latest sounds like it should easily soar even higher in the weeks to come. On it, the pair hit back at stereotypes of blondes. “I ain’t no dumb blonde; I ain’t no stupid Barbie Doll. I got my game on. Watch me, watch me, watch me prove you wrong” the “Smile” hitmaker challenges over a drumline on the sassy chorus.

Nicki’s verse is equally fierce and tosses a fair amount of shade. “Now all of ’em wanna be a Barbie. I’m watchin’ but you never gon’ stop me, never gon’ top me,” she raps. That’s just a warmup. “I am the prototype, the pinkprint. And no, I don’t want no frauds. Wink, wink.” Fans will undoubtedly spend time dissecting whom the “Hard White” hitmaker is aiming her pen at, which should help rack up some serious streams. This is also the sort of fiery banger that deserves plenty of radio play. It would also benefit from a promotional performance or two. Avril is due to a make stop on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon tomorrow and one on Good Morning America Friday. Hopefully she shows the song some love.

Another thing to keep an eye peeled for is the official video. In the meantime, press play on the song and check out the vibrant lyric video below!
