Looking for an alternative to all those schmaltzy ballads on Valentine’s Day? Well, here’s a loved-up banger! LA production duo Niiko x SWAE give Train’s “Valentine” (a slept-on gem from the band’s 2017 A Girl, A Bottle, A Boat album) a club-friendly makeover. “Working on this remix for Train has been one of the most incredible opportunities we’ve had in our career so far,” the rising DJs explain. “We’re both huge fans of [Pat Monahan’s] music, so to be able to remix their song ‘Valentine’ and put it out on Valentine’s Day is very special for us.”

Niiko x SWAE do a good job of updating the sing-along pop song without destroying its original appeal — namely, its warm, retro vibe and shamelessly romantic lyrics. In addition to overhauling Train anthems, the duo is also making waves with their own music. They impacted the Billboard Dance Club Chart with “Run This Town” and “Flavor,” two bangers you will no doubt hear at Niiko x SWAE’s 2019 residency with Las Vegas’ Hakkasan Group. We’re excited to premiere their Valentine’s Day-appropriate remix below.
