Future Hit: 'Someone You Loved'
Lewis Capaldi's 'Someone You Loved' is a raw ballad with huge hit potential.

Lewis Capaldi is shaping up to be one of 2019’s breakout stars courtesy of “Someone You Loved.” The raw, heartfelt ballad is a streaming sensation and recently became his first top 3 hit in the UK. (Don’t be too surprised if it reaches number one in the coming weeks). With a certified smash on his hands, the 22-year-old is now ready to unleash his debut album. The amusingly-titled Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent drops on May 17 and is already available to pre-order.

“I never thought I’d get to the point where I’d be able to release a proper album and I ABSOLUTELY never thought that when I did, I would give it a name as stupid I have, but here we are,” the cheeky Scotsman says of his debut. “Everyone always tells you about how amazing recording their first album was and how they’ll always look back on the process with fond memories. I will look back on it as an extremely stressful time that somehow also managed to be extremely boring.”

He winds up the self-deprecating statement with a simple wish. “I hope people don’t think it’s shit,” Lewis admits. “I mean don’t get me wrong there will be one or two stinkers on there, but I’m only human and we all make mistakes, but as a whole I think it’s pretty fucking good.” While the full tracklist is yet to be announced, it includes viral hits “Bruises,” “Grace” and, of course, “Someone You Loved.” Lewis will also support the album with a string of US tour dates.
