A ‘Magic’ Collaboration? Madonna Hits The Studio With Maluma
It’s looking increasingly likely that Madonna’s 14th studio album, which is rumored to be called Magic, will have a little Latin flair. The 60-year-old sex symbol was snapped in the studio with Brazil’s queen of pop (AKA Anitta) in December and just shared a pic in the recording booth with Colombian heartthrob Maluma. “Cooking up some Fuego over here!” was all she had to say about their session, but the “Champagne Rosé” icon later posted a selfie and tagged superstar producer Mike Dean. He previously worked with Madonna on Rebel Heart cuts “Illuminati,” “Holy Water,” “Inside Out” and “Wash All Over Me.”
The fact that the enduring hitmaker is working with world artists shouldn’t come as too big a shock. After all, she was open about being influenced by her new home of Portugal, particularly Fado. It also looks like Mike Dean and Mirwais will serve as the album’s main producers. That makes sense given the living legend’s dissatisfaction with the piecemeal approach to previous releases. In any case, Madonna is definitely trying new things and making music on her own terms. Which is all we can ask of her.
