Dreams really do come true! Fans of the Spice Girls already have so much to celebrate in 2019. This summer, the girls (minus Victoria Beckham) are embarking on a tour across the UK. We’re still waiting to see if the reunion will result in what we really, really want: new music. Either way, it is sure to be a big moment for Girl Power. And that’s not all! Today (February 25) Emma Bunton, Baby Spice, announced plans to drop a new album of solo material. Titled My Happy Place, it arrives April 12. However, the first taste is coming even sooner than that. The “Free Me” icon will drop the lead single “Baby Please Don’t Stop” this Wednesday (February 27).

A press release described it as a ’60s-inspired “smooth pop classic” written with the assistance of Paul Barry and Patrick Mascall. The rest of the 10-song tracklist is sounding just as iconic. Emma has a second writing credit on another retro bop titled “Too Many Teardrops.” Meanwhile, she’s partnering with Robbie Williams on what is sure to be a must-hear version of Spice Girls mega-classic “2 Become 1.” It will be nice to have a studio version of their rendition, which they performed together during a live event in 2016. The LP also features collaborations with the likes of Will Young, Josh Kumra and Jade Jones.

The pink-haired hitmaker provided some insight into the title in a shared statement. “The reason I called the album ‘My Happy Place’ is because my happy place is with my family, with my friends, listening to music and being in the studio. All those things came together on this album,” she explained. “While recording it my kids came to the studio, my friends came down, my mum listened to every song over and over again.” The 43-year-old also opened up about how it felt to be working on a follow-up to 2006’s Life In Mono.

“Being in the studio I just feel so happy. As you get older you feel more confident because actually your priorities change, and my family have become my focus, but this album is like the icing on the cake. Being able to write, record and perform is definitely that extra sprinkle of magic.” Hopefully Emma will be able to perform some of the new material on tour this summer. While we breathlessly wait for the first listen, check out the cover below!
