The Stereotypes Interview
We speak to the production outfit about Grammys, Bruno Mars and so much more.

19-year-old Destiny Rogers makes an auspicious debut with “Tomboy,” which was produced by LA-based production outfit The Stereotypes (Bruno Mars’ “24k Magic,” “That’s What I Like” and “Finesse”). They signed the promising newcomer to their Beach Wave Sound label and developed her for a year. The investment should pay off. While “Tomboy” bears all the hallmarks of a Stereotypes production (minimal beats, vocal hooks and intricate layering), the teenager doesn’t get lost in the mix.

“I’m a girl’s girl, I’m a boss in a man’s world,” Destiny begins the song, before outlining her personal manifesto. The Lodi, CA native is intent on doing things her way and even seems to have taken notes from a Cher interview (“mama said marry a rich man and I was like,’mama I am the rich man'”). It’s a heady concoction that worms its way further into your brain with each listen. Get to know the breakout star a little better by watching her “Tomboy” video below. It was filmed in Destiny’s hometown and captures her passion for skateboarding. She’s definitely One To Watch.
