Stephen Puth Interview
We speak to the breakout star about 'Sexual Vibe' and his debut EP.

Stephen Puth caught everyone’s attention with “Sexual Vibe.” A blissed-out haze of real instruments and retro influences, the 24-year-old’s debut single marked him as newcomer willing to take risks. It also introduced his deep baritone to the world. The song was always intended to be more of a showcase than a radio staple, but it still managed to amass 10 million cumulative streams. Stephen should have even more success with “Half Gone,” a soaring, sad-boy anthem with serious hit potential.

“‘Half Gone’ talks about how every time you try to find love you’re always giving a piece of your heart away,” the New Jersey native explains. “Sometimes, others take more and make it difficult to find closure and move on, because part of you missed the old them. Through time you’ll be alright, but sometimes it hurts so bad that literally half your heart feels gone.” That sentiment is ably conveyed in the Ally Pankiw-directed video. It captures the highs and lows of a relationship, and includes some serious emoting. Watch below.
