Louis & Bebe's Mellow 'Back To You'
Louis Tomlinson teams up with Bebe Rexha for mellow solo debut 'Back To You.'

After laying low for most of 2018, Louis Tomlinson kickstarts his solo career with an emotional ballad called “Two Of Us.” Dedicated to his late mother, who died in 2016 after a brief battle with leukemia, the song is raw and painfully honest. “This morning I woke up still dreaming, with memories playing through my head,” the 27-year-old sings in the opening verse. “You’ll never know how much I miss you, the day that they took you — I wish it was me instead.” Louis then promises to keep on going for the both of them on the chorus.

“I will be the best of me, always keep you next to me,” the Brit belts. “I’ll be living one life for the two of us.” In the press release, Louis explains why he decided to release the song now. “People say writing is a part of therapy and in a way, I feel like I’d been avoiding writing this song because I knew I only had one chance to get it right,” he says. “I don’t mean to be too soppy about it, but if ‘Two of Us’ can help just one other person who’s going through the tough time that I went through, then that would make me really happy.”

In many ways, this feels like a new beginning for Louis. The One Direction hitmaker finally delivered a song worthy of his huge fandom and found his niche sound-wise. “Two Of Us” is the first single from the Brit’s debut LP. I guess that means “Back To You” and “Miss You” will be written off as buzz tracks. Grab a tissue and listen below.
