Maren Morris unleashes her very, very good sophomore LP, 'GIRL.'

Maren Moris’ much-anticipated sophomore LP, GIRL, arrived on Friday (March 8) and raced straight to number one on iTunes. Time will tell if that translates into her first chart-topping album on the Billboard 200, but the country music darling is in with a pretty good shot. And the success is well-deserved. Instead of drifting into crossover-pop terrain after the staggering success of “The Middle,” the 28-year-old went in the other direction — embracing an earthier, rockier sound with a little help from super producers Greg Kurstin and Busbee.

The “I Could Use A Love Song” singer is supporting the album with a North American tour (get tickets here) and dropped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to show fans what they can expect from her show. Maren belted out “Girl” with a full band and gave the late-night staple a performance it will never forget. This was beautifully staged, conveyed the live energy of a rock concert and showcased the breakout star’s still-underrated vocals. In fact, everything about it was utter perfection. Watch Maren in action up top.
