Zara Larsson Announces New Single “Don’t Worry Bout Me,” Out Next Week

Zara Larsson launched a new era with last year’s “Ruin My Life.” The infectious reverse breakup anthem amassed an impressive 184 million Spotify streams and peaked at the number 2 spot on the charts in Sweden. It also rocketed into the Top 10 in the UK and performed respectably in other international markets. However, the bop struggled to replicate that success in the US where taste is (apparently) optional. The criminally underrated single only managed to break into the Top 80 on the Billboard Hot 100 and deserved so much more. Hopefully the 21-year-old has a bit more luck with her follow-up release “Don’t Worry Bout Me.”

Today (March 20), she hopped on social media to casually announce its impending release. “So don’t worry bout me is out next week or whatever,” she wrote in one tweet. In another she promised that the accompanying video was dropping simultaneously. The “Never Forget You” hitmaker upped the ante and turned on her caps lock to repeat the announcement an hour later. Last month she shared some insight into the forthcoming single and her label’s tepid response to it. “My label don’t like it,” she replied to a fan who asked for an update on the track. “sometimes I wish I could just release whatever I feel like…”

It seems like she was able to get her label’s support. It is also worth noting that the single shares a name with her Astrid S-assisted headlining tour. The show launches with a North American leg next month. Check out ticket info here and tweets announcing Zara’s forthcoming bop below!
