Pia Mia Flees An Addictive Relationship On Comeback Single “Bitter Love”
She’s back. Earlier this week Pia Mia confirmed she’d be gracing New Music Friday with her long-awaited comeback single. And today (March 22), she delivered on the promise with the unveiling of “Bitter Love.” It’s been far too long since the 22-year-old last dropped music (The Gift 2 came out in 2017). But she makes up for lost time with the soulful pop anthem. Featuring a stirring production, it tackles the realities of trying (and frequently failing) to escape an addictive relationship. “I need someone to pull me away from this bitter love,” she pleads on the opening lines. “The taste on my lips every time that we kiss, I can’t get enough. Heaven knows that I’ve tried.”
Things pick up on the chorus, where the Guam goddess falls back into the trap. “I wanna run. But baby I drink you up. Cause I need it, want it, can’t get enough of this bitter love.” Featuring some of her best vocals to date, the powerful confection signifies both a welcome return and a shift toward more mature material. Hopefully it nets the “Touch” diva a well-deserved hit. With any luck, it also acts as the first taste of her debut album. The project was coming together nicely several years ago but hit a few delays. Maybe 2019 will be the year everything falls in line for the rising star. In the meantime, give “Bitter Love” a listen below and let us know what you think!
