Nicole Scherzinger Performs New Song “Victorious” At Special Olympics
2019 is shaping up to be a big year for Nicole Scherzinger. The 40-year-old served as a judge on Fox’s hit series The Masked Singer, which received such a strong response that it was renewed for a second season. But that’s not all. She is also turning her attention toward releasing new music. And we got our first taste of what she’s been up to in the studio yesterday (March 21) when she live premiered an inspiring new song at the Special Olympics World Games’ Closing Ceremony. Called “Victorious,” the track was co-written with Jonas Myrin and produced by Futuristics. It also features an empowering message. “You’re the bravest, you’re a wonder, you’re a winner. You’re more than a conqueror. Nothing can hold you down,” she announces on the opening lines.
The anthem picks up speed as it moves into the soaring chorus. “If we get knocked down, we’ll get up stronger. There ain’t no stopping us. We’ll set fire,” she belts. Unsurprisingly, Nicole’s performance was an absolute must-see. Dressed in a shimmering outfit courtesy of Mariam Yaya, the hitmaker lit up Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports Stadium with a striking set. Supported by a piano and a dancer, she served serious vocals as a screen broadcast inspiring footage behind her. She capped off the moment with one final resonating note and a strong pose. The “Whatever U Like” diva opened up about creating the track in a press release.
“Jonas and I were in the studio and wanted to write a song that encompassed the journey to ‘victory,’” she explained. “It started as a message of encouragement, to push through the highs and lows – the elation of success but also the moments of despair. It turned into an anthem of hope and inspiration, whether that’s in sport or any goals we set for ourselves.” Hopefully this means more music (and her long-awaited third LP) is coming. In the meantime, give the track a listen and watch her moving performance below!
