Alisan Porter pulled off a rare Hollywood happy-ending when she won season 10 of The Voice. A former child actor who succumbed to addiction, she channeled all the heartache and struggle into a series of flawless performances. And was justly rewarded. Since winning the show in 2016, the 37-year-old has been chipping away at her third LP (she had previously released two albums independently). The stirring “Deep Water” arrived in 2017, but Alisan takes it to the next level on “Never Could.”

“You love me like a single raindrop melting away the snow, you hold me like a hurricane — wrapped up in your arms I can’t let go,” Alisan sings on the jangly country-rock anthem. “Is this even real, why does it feel so damn good? You love me like I never could.” It’s raw and real, and takes full advantage of those powerful pipes. “It’s a song about understanding love in a completely different way than you’re used to,” she tells Taste Of Country. “It’s a personal journey of learning to love yourself to the fullest by watching someone else love you to their absolute core. Through this process you’ll recognize qualities about yourself that you never realized were lovable before.”
