Nasty Cherry Debuts With 'Win'
Charli XCX's alt-pop girl group Nasty Cherry debuts with a banger called 'Win.'

Nasty Cherry’s ’90s-evoking “Win” stands out as one of the first great singles of 2019. Which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise given the involvement of Charli XCX. The bop whisperer signed the alt-pop girl group to her Vroom Vroom Recordings imprint and, naturally, co-wrote their debut single. She also co-directed the video with Kristen Jan Wong. (Her first stint behind the camera since “Boys”). “When Kristen and I thought about the ‘Win’ video for Nasty Cherry we were very inspired by the female form, block color, Dario Argento’s Suspiria and the four members of the band themselves,” the Brit mused.

“I wanted to create a space for them where they could all shine, all be themselves and all perform to the maximum,” Charli continued. “I love these women, I love their strength and I love this song and video. I’m so happy to be
involved with their creative vision.” The end result is a striking montage of set pieces that range from a performance in a constricted space (very reminiscent of The Cure), a glitter party and some downtime in their lingerie. It’s sexy, smart and very fucking fierce.

Watch Gabbriette Bechtel (lead vocals), Chloe Chaidez of Kitten (guitar), Georgia Somary (bass) and Deborah Knox-Hewson (drums) in action below.
