The UK pop star's 'LOVE + FEAR' album takes shape with the lovely 'Orange Trees.'

Surprise! MARINA just released half of her LOVE + FEAR LP three weeks early. “I created LOVE + FEAR as 2 separate records to be listened to individually,” the Brit explained on Twitter. “I’m releasing LOVE today so you can listen to it in full before we move onto FEAR.” (I gather the April 26 release date still applies to that half). The 33-year-old then elaborated on the first half of the opus. “One of the things I struggled with in the past was letting fear get in the way of love,” she mused. “Love scared me so much. This record is a result of working through that.”

The hitmaker then did something of a deep dive into the concepts of love and fear. “A lot of us think of love as positive and fear as negative,” MARINA pondered, “but the truth is there are positives found within fear and negatives found in love.” That’s all very enlightening, but how is the music? Very, very good from an initial listen. LOVE is comprised of previous singles “Handmade Heaven,” “Superstar” and “Orange Trees” as well as her collaboration with Clean Bandit, “Baby.” Of the four new songs, “To Be Human” and “Enjoy Your Life” have my undivided attention.
