Red Velvet Joins Ellie Goulding On The “Close To Me” Remix

Ellie Goulding has been very generous lately. After taking some time out of the spotlight, the 32-year-old linked up with Diplo and Swae Lee on last year’s “Close To Me.” Since then, the hits just keep coming. She returned to her roots on the haunting ballad “Flux,” collaborated with Clean Bandit on “Mama” and contributed a song called “Do You Remember” to the Fighting With My Family soundtrack. But it looks like the hitmaker isn’t done with “Close To Me” just yet. Why do I say that? Because she breathed new life into the feisty lovers’ anthem by partnering with K-Pop Queens Red Velvet for a remix.

Out today (April 5), the reimagined track stays fairly true to the original with one exception. Swae Lee’s verse is swapped out in favor of a contribution from the “RBB (Really Bad Boy)” divas. And they really deliver. The end result is just as inescapable as the original and is sure to rack up serious numbers on streaming services. All things considered, the remix makes a lot of sense. Although “Close To Me” already peaked within the Top 20 in the UK, it is still climbing the Billboard Hot 100 stateside. This week it reached a new peak at number 27. It will likely soar even higher in the coming weeks with Ellie’s latest push.
