Hozier Talks 'Wasteland, Baby!'
We chat with the Irish hitmaker about his new album and next single.

“Almost (Sweet Music)” is shaping up to be the breakout hit from Hozier’s chart-topping sophomore LP, Wasteland, Baby! The mellow, jazz-infused track has already racked up 45 million streams on Spotify — a number that is set to increase exponentially with the arrival of suitably retro visual. “Since the song… is about the experience of listening to music, the concept of this video is kind of drawing from the jazz tradition and just a lot of musicians and a lot of dancers whose disciplines stem from that tradition,” he says of the Blythe Thomas-directed video.

The end-result has a celebratory feel and certainly ranks as one of Hozier’s most upbeat and feel-good moments. Which probably had something to do with the atmosphere on set. “Big thank you to the local musicians and dancers who lent us their talent and time,” the Irishman wrote on Instagram. “It was inspiring meeting and filming with so many people who’s work carry on from the legacy of the music referenced in this song.” Watch the video up top and check out Hozier’s upcoming tour dates here.
