Lil Dicky Recruits Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande & More For “Earth” Video

Lil Dicky sheds light on the dangers of climate change on his new single “Earth.” And the hitmaker called down a star-studded lineup to really drive the point home. Out just in time for Earth Day (April 22), the Benny Blanco and Cashmere Cat-produced anthem both entertains and educates. Why is that? Because the “Freaky Friday” rapper is determined to do what it takes to raise awareness. “If we don’t get our act together now, and change a lot about our fundamental behavior, Earth will become unlivable alarmingly soon,” he explained in a press release. “So I wanted to make the most entertaining and epic piece of content possible, to get everyone aware and talking. Because it’s now or never… Let’s save the Earth!”

That really comes across in the lyrics, which pair outlandish humor with a simple but evocative chorus. And it definitely leaves a lasting impression. Never in a billion years did I expect to hear Justin Bieber sing about the characteristics of a baboon’s anus. And it gets even more iconic. Shawn Mendes identifies as a horny rhino, Miley Cyrus embodies an elephant with junk in her trunk, Snoop Dogg brings marijuana to life (obviously) and Ariana Grande plays a zebra. Their lines are arranged around the chorus – “We love the Earth, it is our planet. We love the Earth, it is our home.” But wait, there’s more. All these stars and more also make cameos in character for the animated video.

Who else made the cut? The final list includes the likes of Halsey, Sia, Hailee Steinfeld, Adam Levine, Charlie Puth, Lil Jon, Rita Ora, Meghan Trainor, Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry and more. Considering the massive number of artists involved, it is all but guaranteed to be a viral hit. It will also benefit a good cause. Lil Dicky partnered with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation to ensure a portion of proceeds will be donated to deserving charities.
