Ariana Grande closed out Week 2 of Coachella with a very exciting surprise. The week before, the 25-year-old filled out her headlining festival set with guest appearances from the likes of Nicki Minaj and *NSYNC (minus Justin Timberlake). However, in a tweet ahead of this week’s performance, she announced plans to take the stage alone. But plans can change, and hers did when Justin Bieber made an impromptu appearance. The Purpose crooner joined her for a rendition of his chart-topping “Sorry.” But that’s not all. While he was up there, he spilled some tea about new music.

In a speech after the performance (his first public set in about two years), he shared appreciation for the audience and made a reference to a new album. “Thank you so much and by the way, album coming soon,” Justin vowed. It’s worth noting that the hitmaker has been frequently referencing new music on social media lately. However, the messaging has been a little mixed. In one update on his Instagram story, he teased the imminent arrival of a banger. However, the next day he clarified that nothing was ready quite yet in a lengthy post.

“Music is very important to me but Nothing comes before my family and my health,” he explained. But he did assure fans that something was in the works. “I will come with a kick ass album ASAP, my swag is undeniable and my drive is indescribable.” Perhaps things have come together over the last few weeks. While we wait for more details, check out footage from the performance below.
