We’re Saved! Kim Petras Returns With Post-Breakup Anthem “Broken”

Kim Petras did not let us down. Earlier this week the 26-year-old promised to save the music industry with her new single “Broken.” She set a high bar with that statement but did not overpromise. Out today (April 25), the diva’s latest is yet another slice of pop perfection. And this one packs a punch. Over sugary synths and scattered beats, she leaves a message for a former lover who moved on and did her wrong. Suffice to say that they aren’t parting on the best of terms. “Pray to God, pray to God that she leave you broken,” she coos about her replacement. “Like you left me broken.” Ah, Karma. Ending with a signature “woo-ah” is the cherry on top of a very barbed banger.

Paired with a suitably emo and glam lyric video, “Broken” leaves quite the impression. Of course, it is hardly surprising that the track lives up to the hype. Kim has yet to release a bad song after all. Last year alone the rising pop princess graced us with a slew of expertly crafted anthems including the pop-saving opus “Heart To Break,” personal favorite “Can’t Do Better” and her spooktacular (and ambitious) Halloween mixtape TURN OFF THE LIGHT, VOL. 1. In February she closed out her debut era with a trio of hits. Unsurprisingly, they were all winners. And at the rate she is going, those were just a warmup.

With any luck, we’ll get more news about her first-ever full-length studio album in the coming months. In the meantime, you do not want to miss out on the latest testament to her undeniable star-power. Press play on “Broken” below.
