UPDATE: BANKS rolled out a video for “Gimme.” Give it a view below.

BANKS is back! It’s been two years since the 30-year-old dropped her last track – the perky “Underdog.” But a new era is on the horizon. Today (April 29), she kicked things into motion with the unveiling of new single “Gimme.” Co-written with Buddy Ross and produced alongside Hudson Mohawke and BJ Burton, the moody anthem is built around a sinuous chant. “Gimme, gimme what I want. What I deserve. Gimme, gimme it.” The rest of the lyrics are just as self-assured and instantly catchy (“you can call me that bitch” being a prime example). All things considered, the hypnotic track serves as a strong reintroduction and sounds like a hit.

The hitmaker opened up about the song in a press release. “‘Gimme’ is a song about getting what you want,” she explained. “It’s about knowing what you deserve, saying it out loud, and demanding it with no apologies. I’m ready to release this into the world and begin a new chapter.” With any luck, this means that her third studio album is arriving soon. It’s been three years since the “Beggin For Thread” star dropped her sophomore effort – The Altar. Back in December, she provided an update about the status of new music on Twitter. Based on that tweet, it looks like she’s recorded around 45 songs for the LP and plans to drop it sometime this year.

Hopefully it arrives sooner than later. In the meantime, give “Gimme” a listen below.
