All of a sudden, New Music Friday got a whole lot more interesting! Joining this week’s lineup is Shawn Mendes. Earlier today (May 1), the Canadian pop star set social media on fire by announcing a new single called “If I Can’t Have You.” He also shared the pastel-colored cover art and a link to an online store selling the track on CD, vinyl and cassette. (Hopefully physical releases are making a comeback!) “If I Can’t Have You” is expected to be the lead single from the 20-year-old’s much-anticipated 4th album.

Needless to say, expectations are high for Shawn’s new era. His three previous albums have debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and spawned multiple hits including “Treat You Better,” “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” and “In My Blood.” The latter was rewarded with a Grammy nomination for Song Of The Year — a feat Shawn will be hoping to repeat with his new single. Check out the superstar’s announcement below and tune into Saturday Night Live for the live debut of “If I Can’t have You.” The single drops May 3.
