Sabrina Carpenter is one of pop’s most consistent and prolific artists. When she’s not lending her voice to club collaborations like Alan Walker’s “On My Way,” the 19-year-old is chipping away at Singular: Act II. We will get another piece of the puzzle tonight (May 3), when Sabrina drops “Exhale.” Interestingly, many fans will already be familiar with the mid-tempo track. The pop star performed “Exhale” as an encore at shows of Singular Tour, describing it as one of her most personal releases.

“I listen to the labels, listen to the man, try to keep a sense of knowing who I am,” Sabrina sings on the pre-chorus. “I try to be an angel but I don’t think I can, think I’m reaching my limits.” The “Thumbs” hitmaker then speaks her mind on the chorus. “Can I exhale for a minute? Can I get this out in the open?” she asks. “Can I sit down for a second? Can I breathe?” It’s very obvious that the talented teen is taking creative control of her music, which makes the prospect of Singular: Act II all the more exciting. See the cover art and listen to the track below.
