A Bop! Iggy Azalea Gets It Very Right With “Started”
There is no stopping Iggy Azalea right now. Things have been on an upward trajectory for the Aussie rapper since Survive The Summer. But she took it to the next level with “Sally Walker.” The ferocious single kickstarted In My Defense with a bang and some well-deserved chart success. And the 28-year-old is two for two this era with the release of her second single – “Started.” Out today (May 3), the brag-heavy cut sounds like a serious hit. “I started from the bottom, and now I’m rich. I got in my bag, and I ain’t looked back since,” she growls over supersized beats courtesy of J. White Did It. “You started out hatin’, now you love my drip.”
As if the ode to Iggy’s irresistible charms wasn’t hot enough, the accompanying video is shaping up to be a literal work of art. The hitmaker teased some behind the scenes snaps from the shoot, and they look one more legendary than the next. In one, she reclines on a luxurious bed alongside an older man and some cute dogs. And in another, she poses with a couple stacks of hundred dollar bills. Oh yeah, there’s also a cameo from Trixie Mattel. How did that come together? Luckily, we got some insight on Twitter. “I wrote a scene just for her in sallywalker but she was on tour so I HAD to write her into the story for started when I found out she’d be in town.”
