Another Number One? Halsey Announces New Single “Nightmare”
New music from Halsey is on the way. Fans have been expecting something from the pop star since she blacked out her social media following the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. But she left us waiting for official news until last night (May 9). During a performance in New York City, she announced the impending release of a single called “Nightmare.” The best part: It drops a week from today. We don’t know much about the track just yet, but the title implies something a little darker thematically. It’s also interesting to note that the roll-out draws parallels to how she confirmed “Without Me” last year. Currently it is unclear if the song is a another one-off or if it is a sign that a new album is on the way.
It has been almost two years since Halsey unveiled her last LP – Hopeless Fountain Kingdom – in June of 2017. So a full-length effort would be more than welcome at this point. And it makes plenty of sense. 2019 is already shaping up to be a big year for the 24-year-old. Back in January she landed her first solo number one on the Billboard Hot 100. She flew back into the Top 10 on the chart with a feature on BTS’s “Boy With Luv.” Not only that, but the accompanying video is pulling down serious numbers. It’s currently at 277 million views and rising by the day. Dropping an album would all but guarantee she spends the rest of the year on top.
