Taylor Dayne Returns With A Banger Called “Live Without”

Taylor Dayne was one of the most unexpected artists in last week’s New Music Friday lineup. The big-lunged pop diva, who landed seven consecutive top 10 hits in the late ’80s, rolled out a new tune called “Live Without” and it’s a bone-rattling banger. “We haven’t spent that much time, but it seems like I’ve known you my whole life,” the flawless 57-year-old belts over Avedon’s electro-house production. “How can it be?” That leads us to the massive chorus, which makes full use of Taylor’s powerful pipes.

“If it’s still new then how come you are somebody that I can’t live without,” the enduring hitmaker sings. “I can’t live without you (baby), I can’t live without (no I can’t).” While casual pop fans might remember Taylor for her power ballads (“Love Will Lead You Back” and “I’ll Be Your Shelter” are classics), she has been igniting dance floors since the ’90s. “Live Without” finds the perfect balance between nostalgia and on-trend electro, and should become yet another club smash. Hopefully, this means album six is on the way! Listen below.
