LDR Teases Sublime Cover
Lana Del Rey is rolling out a cover of Sublime's 'Doin' Time' for a new documentary.

Lana Del Rey and Sublime turns out to be an extremely heady mix. The “Venice Bitch” icon delivers a summery cover of the California band’s 1996 classic, “Doin Time.” She stays faithful to the original, not changing a word or pronoun. “Summertime, and the livin’s easy,” Lana croons on the chorus over Happy Perez and watt’s hazy production. “Bradley’s on the microphone with Ras MG, all people in the dance will agree that we’re well-qualified to represent the L.B.C..” It’s the perfect fit for both her voice and aesthetic.

It’s a little unclear at present if “Doin’ Time” will end up on Lana’s much-anticipated Norman Fucking Rockwell. A snippet of her cover can be heard in the trailer for an upcoming documentary about Sublime (watch here), which suggests that it might be a soundtrack cut. Whatever the case may be, “Doin’ Time” is an essential addition to any LDR playlist. It also serves as a tasty little snack while we wait for her 6th album to arrive. Check out Lana’s latest below.
