Halsey Comes For Blood On Fiery New Single “Nightmare”

Halsey holds nothing back on “Nightmare.” Anticipation has been high for the 24-year-old’s latest single since it was announced during a show last week. A series of teasers and a fairly direct statement on Twitter made it clear the song would be an aggressive, timely anthem. And it definitely lives up to expectations on that front. “I tasted blood and it is sweet,” she sings over a throbbing production courtesy of Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat and Happy Perez. “I’ve had the rubble beneath my feet. I’ve trusted lies and trusted men. Broke down and put myself together again.” The lyrics only get more direct.

“I won’t smile, but I’ll show you my teeth,” Halsey growls. And tension rises as she builds up to the chorus. “I got no one to smile for, I waited a while for a moment to say I don’t owe you a goddamn thing.” The accompanying video is just as ferocious. Out today (May 17), it is one of the hitmaker’s most ambitious projects to date and truly brings the rebellious opus to life. It also features a cameo from Cara Delevingne. There’s no official word yet on if “Nightmare” is a standalone track (like “Without Me”) or the lead single for a forthcoming album. Either way, it seems safe to assume it will land Halsey yet another hit. Check out the video below.
