Sasha Sloan Interview
The breakout pop star talks 'Loser' EP and writing hits for other artists.

After a prolific 2018 (she released two of the year’s best EPs), Sasha Sloan has maintained a relatively low profile in 2019. She resurfaces today with a new single called “Thoughts” and it’s a bruising snapshot of the (often terrible) things we tell ourselves. “Sometimes I just can’t control my thoughts, no medication’s ever made them stop,” she sings over King Henry’s sparse, hazy electronic production. “All I think about is everything I’m not instead of everything I got.”

The singer/songwriter continues to struggle with her inner narrative on the chorus. “Cause I’m scared they’re all laughing, so I make the joke first,” Sasha admits. “If I beat ’em to the punchline, then I can’t get hurt.” She winds up with more honesty. “I swear to God I’m trying, but I don’t know how to be, how to be a good friend to me.” It’s unclear if “Thoughts” is a stand-alone single or the first taste of Sasha’s much-anticipated debut LP. Either way, it’s one of the week’s best new songs and deserves your full attention. Listen below.
