Vance Joy Talks 'Nation Of Two'
We speak to the Aussie singer about his second album and US tour.

It’s not easy to put your spin on a hugely popular song, let alone one that charted as recently as last year. But that’s exactly what Vance Joy does with his bare-bones cover of Pink’s “What About Us.” The Aussie singer/songwriter strips the pop anthem back to its emotional core, wringing every ounce of pathos out of the lyrics. Hopefully, the “Riptide” hitmaker adds it to his setlist when he opens for Pink on her 2019 European tour. Vance will be joining her from June 16 all the way through to August 11.

In addition to churning out killer covers, the 31-year-old has been touring his sophomore LP. 2018’s Nation Of Two picked up where Vance’s 2014 debut Dream Your Life Away left off. Namely, with a collection of acutely-observed tunes that fall somewhere between pop, rock and folk. The sound was, in parts, bigger and bolder this time around, which might give some insight into album three. While we wait for that, check out the curly-haired singer’s version of “What About Us.” Pink has already given her seal of approval, so you know it’s good.
