Tove Lo embarks on an incredible saga in the video for her current single “Glad He’s Gone.” The track, which kicked off her Sunshine Kitty era, acts as a musical pep talk for anyone going through a breakup. It’s a catchy anthem that highlights the bonds of friendship, and the visual really brings the message to life. Directed by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia, it sees the 31-year-old interrupt what looks like a date of her own to support a pal in need. After picking up the call, she heads out and travels the globe, nonchalantly ends an armed robbery and winds up in jail. Next up is an epic escape and the creation of a new identity.

And, impressively, she does all that while remaining on the phone with her heartbroken friend. The hitmaker opened up about the project in a press release. “I think this might be the best video I’ve ever done. It tells the story of the song SO WELL while being a bizarre mini action movie,” she enthused. “I loved working with the directors Vania & Muggia, who came up with this genius idea. The four day and night shoot in Kiev was very intense but with the best and most hard working crew! If anything, it made me realize how much I love acting (and that I’m a real committed friend haha).” Cinematic and witty, it’s an instant win that will hopefully help send “Glad He’s Gone” up the charts.
