Noah Cyrus' 'Good Cry' EP
Breakup songs and bops. We review Noah Cyrus' impressive 'Good Cry' EP.

Rence is one of the breakout stars of 2019 courtesy of viral hits “Baby Blue” and “Ways To Go.” He will gain even more momentum with the arrival of “Expensive.” A collaboration with Noah Cyrus, this is the newcomer’s catchiest single to date. “Baby, I choke when you ask me why I don’t have the heart to give it one more try,” the-21-year-old sings on the chorus. “It’s not that I don’t want to, I just can’t afford to love you.”

“[It’s] about when you feel like you’ve given someone so much that you’ve depleted your own resources,” the DC-born, Seattle-raised artist explains. “It’s not that you don’t want to give that person the world, but you just can’t afford to anymore, because it’s starting to really hurt you. It’s about looking out for and loving yourself in a sense.” What did Noah bring to the song? “I have been blown away by her voice for so long,” Rence reveals. “I wanted her on ‘Expensive’ as a powerful female vocalist to bring the song home.”

“What’s crazy to me is she not only killed her verse, but added really creative elements that raised the song to a whole new level,” he adds. “I die every time I hear her ‘hmm’ before the last hook.” Noah is similarly enthused about the track. “I’ve been in my own world for almost 11 months, and I’m so excited Rence is my first collaboration back,” the “Make Me (Cry)” hitmaker shares. “The record was undeniable from the moment I heard it, and it sounded electric when we had it finished.”
