UPDATE: “Hate Me” is here. Press play on Ellie Goulding and Juice WRLD’s new bop below.

Ellie Goulding is hoping to kickstart her long-awaited 4th LP with a new single called “Hate Me.” The track, which features “Lucid Dreams” rapper Juice Wrld, premieres as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1 tomorrow (June 26). And it sounds like a real change of pace — at least if the snippets she posted on social media are any indication. After delivering a ballad (“Flux”) and a pure-pop anthem (“Sixteen”), the British hitmaker is switching things up with a hip-hop-flavored banger.

While the previews have been brief, it appears that Ellie is taking aim at an ex on the song. “Hate me, hate me,” she sings on the chorus. “Still trying to replace me.” It will be interesting to see how “Hate Me” performs on the Billboard Hot 100. The 32-year-old kicked off the EG4 era with a bang when “Close To Me” cracked the top 30 (and went platinum), but subsequent singles haven’t dented the chart at all. Something tells me Ellie will have more luck with this one. Get a taste of the tune below.
