Lil Nas X marked the last day of Pride Month by coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. The “Old Town Road” rapper shared the news via a series of tweets. “Some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure,” he wrote. The message contained a rainbow emoji and audio from the song, which landed on his 7 EP. “Ain’t no more acting, man that forecast say I should just let me grow. No more red light for me, baby. Only green, I gotta go,” he raps on the chorus.

“Pack my past up in the back. Oh, let my future take ahold. This is what I gotta do, can’t be regretting when I’m old.” Many assumed the lyrics were a reference to him coming out. And a second tweet sent several hours later provided a bit more clarity. This one included a zoomed-in photo of his EP cover art. In particular, it revealed that one of the buildings in the cityscape was emblazoned with a rainbow. “Deadass thought i made it obvious,” he said. It’s worth noting that he sent a slightly more mixed message on Instagram.

There he wrote “just cuz i’m gay don’t mean i’m gay” in the comments section of a post. Perhaps this is a reference to identifying as bisexual instead of gay? Check out his messages below and let us know what you think.
