One of the best things about Pride month is the onslaught of feel-good bangers. A highlight of this year’s batch is “Love On Myself.” Felix Jaehn and Calum Scott have joined forces to craft a different kind of love song. Namely, one about turning your affection inward. The message is powerful and the execution shows unusual restraint. This works, first and foremost, as a club anthem. “Until I said: ‘Hey, how you doing? Yeah, I hope I’m well,'” the Brit croons over Felix’s melodic beats. “Time to put that love on myself, before I give it back to someone else.”

That takes us to the soaring chorus. “I need to put the love on myself,” Calum wails. “Before I give it to someone else.” While Pride month ended yesterday in the states, the festivities are just getting started in Europe. And this is going to be on high rotation at all of them. The German DJ is known for his sunny bangers (“Bonfire,” “So Close” and that chart-topping “Cheerleader” remix), but his collaborator has been pegged as a balladeer until now. It turns out, he’s just as adept at club fare. Listen to “Love On Myself” below.
