Avril Lavigne is serving Visuals for her Head Above Water era. The 34-year-old kickstarted the album’s campaign with a suitably epic video in support of its lead single. Comprised of stunning, panoramic views and unforgettable underwater posing, it signified a glorious rebirth. Next up was some holiday heartbreak in “Tell Me It’s Over.” After a quick switch-up, she opted out of releasing anything for the rollicking “Dumb Blonde” and instead turned her attention to “I Fell In Love With The Devil.” Today (July 15) she returns with a video in support of the single. And it is as witchy and emotional as you’d expect based on the title.

Directed by Elliott Lester, it brings the vocally superior track to life as she battles with the effects of a toxic relationship. And it is visually gorgeous. In it, Avril drives a hearse containing her own coffin into a graveyard. There, she meets up with a love interest who immediately pulls her into his grasp. However, later she takes an axe to the coffin in a move that may refer to her choice to break free. Intercut between are scenes of her in a breath-taking red gown at the piano. With any luck, the video will breathe some life into the single. It would be amazing and very well-deserved for the hitmaker to return to the charts ahead of the launch of her Head Above Water Tour this fall.

We’ll have to wait and see about that. In the meantime, prepare to be awed and press play on the visual below.
